George started it.
Johnny carries it forward.

Family-owned electrical work for the Lowcountry since 1972. Three generations, one Romney Street shop, zero high-pressure sales.

Our story

One truck and a vocational diploma.

George Kornahrens graduated from Murray Vocational School in 1944. He spent the next twenty-eight years learning every panel, conduit, and circuit in the Lowcountry — from the old wiring in single-houses on Tradd Street to the new industrial work along the Cooper River.

In 1972, with one truck and a sign on Romney Street, George opened Charleston Electrical Services. His promise to neighbors was simple: diagnose honestly, recommend the right fix, and stand behind every job.

“We've always operated under strong values, aimed at exceeding our clients' needs.”

John “Johnny” Oakley grew up around the shop, learned the trade beside George, and graduated from Trident Technical College before taking over as owner. Today he runs the same crew on the same code George set — 500+ projects logged, 11 industry awards on the wall, and the Romney Street phone line still ringing.

The family

Two generations on Romney Street.

The same people who answer the phone are the ones who've wired the Lowcountry for half a century. Call, and you'll talk to family — not a call center.

What we believe

Four things we won't compromise on.

Honest diagnosis

If a $30 GFCI fixes it, we'll change a GFCI — even when a $4,000 panel would pay our truck off faster.

Transparent pricing

Written estimate before any work begins. No surprise charges, no "we found another problem" routine. Permits priced up front.

Show up on time

If we say 9:30, we'll be there at 9:30 — and if something happens we call before the window. Your time matters.

Storm-ready, always

Hurricane season runs June through November. Our trucks & phones run all twelve months. The Lowcountry has us on speed-dial for a reason.
